04 Feb Case Study: Google ads and The Promo Room
Client: The Promo Room
The Promo Room sells branded promotional items and corporate giftware. They have a focus on sourcing New Zealand made and eco-friendly products to complement their range of popular promo items.
Challenge: Raise awareness locally and lower North Island
Based in New Plymouth, the team want to ensure their business community knows about The Promo Room and their sustainable range, and expand into other areas in the lower North Island.
Status: Marketing solutions in place
The Promo Room has a website as well as a Facebook and Instagram presence, has dabbled in print ads and sends out regular e-newsletters.
Solution: Google Ads get the results and are cost-effective
The team looked to Google Ads to reach people who were already searching online using keywords related to their business and products. They used a mix of search text ads to raise awareness of The Promo Room and content relating to eco products to lead searchers to The Promo Room website. Initially, the team focused on Taranaki searchers and set a low monthly budget cap. With the security of only paying when people click on their Google Ads the team were confident of their maximum financial outlay and knew they could turn off the ads if they needed to.
Result: One big order the minute the ad was running
The team confirmed they were on the right track when a large local company got in touch as a result of seeing a google ad for The Promo Room and said: “I didn’t know we had a local company doing this” and promptly placed a $13,000 order. Not only well and truly covering the $272 a month cost of the google ads trial but giving the team confidence to expand their daily budget and target locations. They are now looking at the search terms people use and refining their ads each month. Having such a visual product, they are looking into display ads to appear on websites that their customers visit too.
